ScreenConnect On-Premise Evolution: Latest Enhancements & What’s Next
Your Data, Your Compliance, Your Control: The On-Premise Advantage
Imagine you own a workshop stocked with tools only you can access. You set the rules, decide who walks in, and ensure everything stays exactly where you want it. That’s the essence of on-premise remote support: your data, your compliance standards, your rules. Over the past year, we’ve made that workshop more organized, secure, and efficient, all while tackling real-life headaches like data protection, compliance audits, and the frustration of juggling too many alerts at once.
Below is a quick tour of what we did in 2024 and a sneak peek of what’s on the horizon for 2025. If you host ScreenConnect on your own servers—or are just curious about the on-premise approach—this review is for you.
2024: A Busy Year for ScreenConnect On-Premise
Celebrating ScreenConnect’s 15 years with a new look
We kicked off 2024 by refreshing ScreenConnect’s look and feel—our way of marking 15 years of constant improvements. But this wasn’t just about visual flair; we’re laying the groundwork for a more proactive and responsive interface.
Easier file transfers in Backstage
Ever find yourself juggling multiple steps just to transfer a file to a remote machine? Our File Manager for Backstage removes that hassle completely. Now you can drag and drop or copy and paste files directly into specific directories without disturbing the end user.
This means less back-and-forth, fewer interruptions, and more time spent actually solving problems.
Cutting through the noise: The new Action Center
It’s easy to get lost in a sea of alerts, especially when you have multiple sessions pinging you at once. Our new Action Center gathers up to 50 events in a scrollable panel, pointing you directly to the session that needs attention. No more hunting for those hidden notifications.
More efficient automation and tools
- Credential indicator: Quickly see which machines already have credentials stored.
- Improved Toolbox functionality: Run tools in different user contexts for the right level of access every time.
- Time-based automations: Fine-tune your triggers and schedule tasks without writing complex scripts.
- Faster relay and higher agent capacity: We’ve streamlined relay performance and reduced server load, so you can handle more connections without bogging down.
Next-generation Command Toolbox
We’re giving the Command Toolbox a complete overhaul. Create, organize, and edit commands in a simpler interface. You can also mark commands for the Shared Toolbox and tidy them away into custom folders, so everything is easy to find and use across your entire support team.
Extension spotlight: Easier installations with Certificate Signing
Ever had antivirus or endpoint protection balk at your installers? Our Certificate Signing extension lets administrators sign Windows access agent installers with a trusted or self-signed certificate.
Fewer installation roadblocks mean smoother support and fewer security warnings.
Extension spotlight: Dynamic Custom Properties
Think of it like labeling every tool in your workshop with the exact specs you need—brand, serial number, even how often it is used. Our Dynamic Custom Properties extension gives you that same level of detail for your ScreenConnect sessions. You can run custom PowerShell commands to fetch specific info—like a registry entry or installed software—and automatically store it in a session’s custom property. That means you can quickly group, filter, and track your machines based on criteria that actually matter to you.
For technicians, it’s one more way to skip the guesswork and zoom in on the fixes that keep things running smoothly.
Coming Soon...
Smarter session filtering
We’re revamping the session filtering engine. Type in rules and get real-time suggestions and validation—no special “degree” in ScreenConnect required. This update will help you manage sessions and automate tasks more easily.
Where We’re Headed?
Your “workshop” is never truly finished—there’s always a new tool to refine or a process to streamline. We’re continuing to shape on-premise remote support so it stays in sync with your evolving needs, from streamlining compliance to tackling everyday operational challenges.
As we move further into 2025, expect even more improvements and a host of new features designed to make your on-premise experience both simpler and stronger.
Locking Up the Workshop—But Always Open to Ideas
Just like maintaining your own workshop, keeping ScreenConnect on-premise remote support efficient and secure is an ongoing process. We hope these updates make your “workshop” easier to manage—while giving you full control over who walks in and where your tools live. If you have ideas on how we can further personalize this space to your needs, we’d love to hear them. After all, your experiences guide us toward improvements that truly matter.
Here’s to another year of refining the workshop you call your own!
